Stella McCartney Grows Up
Stella McCartney grows up. On Jan. 7, after 10 years in the Meatpacking District, Stella McCartney moved to SoHo on Greene Street. The esteemed designer hosted a star-studded cocktail reception and dinner party on January 9, with ice sculptures of the Empire State Building and Brooklyn Bridge. Guests included New York artists and McCartney loyalists.
The 1,200-square-foot, two-story store is spare, but dramatic and light-filled, boasting elaborate herringbone floors, Victorian finishes, and Deco sculptures. This marks the 17th stand-alone Stella McCartney store, with the 16th opening simultaneously at Bal Harbour near Miami. Two new stores are due to open in London and Barcelona in the coming months.
The Stella McCarthy brand now encompasses the designer collection, kids and Adidas by Stella McCartney. In fact, McCartney has been chosen as the official designer of the British Olympic teams for London 2012 – so you’ll be seeing a lot of her this year.
